Between the Lines 2024 

Between the Lines 2024 took place from the 11 - 14 April with an eclectic mix of authors speaking in some

fantastic small venues across Central Hawke's Bay.

Young Writers' Workshop

A free event for young creative writers nominated by 15 primary schools across CHB. This annual event nurtures the love of the written word in our future authors. Our 2024 workshop is being led by the current Te Awhi Rito NZ Reading Ambassador Alan Dingley. This free event is sponsored by a grant from Creative Communities.

Pet Subjects - an evening with bestselling author Catherine Chidgey

Bestselling author Catherine Chidgey currently has two books on the NZ Top Ten Fiction list: The Axeman’s Carnival and Pet. What a coup for CHB to have Catherine in conversation with Louise Ward of Wardini Books!

Thrilled

A panel of the three 2023 Ngaio Marsh Award winners, Charity Norman, Michael Bennett and Steve Braunias, will entertain us with tales of crime and mystery, led by bestselling local author Catherine Robertson, in the delightful c1911 original country store in Ongaonga.

Butter, Butter High Tea

Join us for high tea with Petra Galler and sample some delicious cakes from her beautiful book “Butter, Butter”. Interviewer Doug Hales will be speaking to Petra about her decadent recipes inspired by her Jewish heritage.  

Queen Bee

What an honour to host poet, author, Professor and NZ Poet Laureate 2017-19, Selina Tusitala Marsh ONZM. Selina will speak with Peter Malcouronne about her interesting and diverse career in the oldest church in Hawke's Bay.
